The house-influenced track was a commercial success, debuting at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Rihanna's 28th top 10 hit in the country and Harris' fourth. In the United Kingdom, "This Is What You Came For" debuted at number two on the national singles chart and has also reached top 10 positions in Australia, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, New Zealand, and Switzerland. The song topped the Charts in Scotland, whereas reaching the top 5 in 12 other countries.
