Biography

Côte Déserte was begun as a project by two Russian musicians, Philip Croaton from Saint-Petersburg, RU and Maxim Komov from Moscow in late 2007. It was a kind of joke that time, basically. Both Philip and Maxim decided to compose a tune under influence of Angelo Badalameni’s soundtrack for Twin Peaks TV series by David Lynch. The music journey of Côte Déserte started from the very first composition that wrote Philip – Dale Cooper’s Theme, on which Maxim added some jazzy arrangements and so the story of the project began.

After some time there were made another demo for Côte Déserte in 2008. But both musicians weren’t happy with material and its final sound. After trying to find various conclusions for the project, musicians decided to take a break and to leave project for its best times.

Maxim began to work solo with his project Silence Drift, besides he started to work with band Perfect Me in late 2008. And Philip finished second studio work for his project Still Fire duo (with saxophonist Ilia Belorukov) and began to work on his solo material.

After 2 years and lots of talking about Côte Déserte, guys decided to reunite and bring another forces to the project. This is why the first long awaited work from the project is still based on Twin Peaks theme: musicians decided to remake Dale Cooper’s Theme and to compose few more songs around theme, combining them all into mini-album, called Dale Cooper’s Case.

Meanwhile, Philip and Maxim are working on full concept album, which will be debut (not counting DCS) for Côte Déserte and will be released in 2011.

The style of project can be characterized as post-jazz with ambient tunes and experimental moods.
