Butterfly Explosion are a band from Ireland that blend powerful spiraling music with delicate vocals to form rich soundscapes of beautiful melodies, gliding between moments of ethereal dreampop and explosive sonic bliss.
The debut album 'LOST TRAILS' was released March 2010 on Revive Records, recorded and produced with Torsten Kinsella (God Is An Astronaut). A week after the release Butterfly Explosion jumped into the top 5 of Last.FM's "hyped artists" chart and also broke into the CMJ college radio charts in USA with album tracks featuring in dozens of top 30 playlists.
Since the album release the band have toured UK, USA, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Austria, Spain and Portugal. Other highlights have included festival appearances at SXSW 2010 in Austin and CMW 2011 in Toronto. When UK webzine Drowned In Sound had a week of articles in April 2009 dedicated to the revival and diverse influence of the early 90s shoegaze scene, Butterfly Explosion were amongst the international artists highlighted as ones to watch.
In 2014 they put out a sole single, RUN, with an accompanying music video that saw the band branch out into electronic-rock. In 2020, the band announced through social media support for God Is An Astronaut's tour and that a new album or series of EPs were being planned for the future.
