“Outside” finds Bryson expressing his sexual desire to a freshly single woman who was unable to escape a disastrous previous relationship. He also expresses the desire to spend as a gentleman would on the lady. The song creates a euphoric and gloomy atmosphere over a sampled tune, whose production has a palpitating bass accompanied by finger snaps. The song’s refrain uses repetition to demonstrate Bryson’s addiction to the lady.
The song’s announcement as the first single from his highly anticipated seventh studio album came as a surprise to most fans, since Bryson had never teased the existence of the song until September 2, 2022. He expressed his thoughts on the song as follows:
“‘Outside’ is the polar opposite of what everyone is used to hearing from me. Normally we would release a song intended to put people deep in their feelings, but this song is ANTI-FEELS.“
