"Skate" is a R&B, disco and funk song inspired by the 1970s disco period by American duo Silk Sonic, consisting of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, released as the second single from An Evening with Silk Sonic (2021), their debut studio album. "Skate" was written by Mars, Brandon Anderson, Dernst Emile II, James Fauntleroy, Domitille Degalle and JD Beck, while the production was handled by Mars and D'Mile.Its lyrics include an invitation to the dance floor. Silk Sonic vocals's have been dubbed "vintage vocal exhortations". After being teased on Twitter by the duo 2 days prior, the song was officially released July 30, 2021 by Aftermath Entertainment and Atlantic Records.
