From the online magazine Forcefield (2001):
“Kaini Industries” is a company that was set up in Canada (by coincidence in the month Mike was born), to create employment for a settlement of Cree Indians.
Although the company is actually spelled “Kainai Industries” (Kainai means “Many Chiefs” in the Kainai language), and served the Blood/Kainai Nation, not the Cree, this Facebook post provides a detailed news report about Kainai Industries' establishment in 1970.
Since we know Boards of Canada lived in Alberta for a time, it’s possible they saw the Kainai Industries building as children. Another possibility is that the National Film Board (where BoC gets their name from) created a documentary that included Kainai Industries.
The drumming at 0:43 is believed to be a recording from a Native American ceremony.
