These are the kings of power metal (sorry Helloween and Rhapsody) you will not find a more consistent discography anywhere else in the genre. Even their earlier speed/thrashy albums are solid. Nightfall in Middle Earth is a contender for my favorite album of all time (currently my most scrobbled).

I dunno, I'm not really feeling any of their newer material. It's not that the songs are bad, they just don't move me as much as the old songs do. Maybe it's because they've been one of my first ever metal bands and I feel so emotionally connected to their old stuff. I have that with a few other bands as well.

Keep in mind that people change and that you can bond to music also because you listened to it in specific moments of your life. I don't really listen to them anymore, but I still would go everyday to one of their gigs, to hear old songs, have a good time and enjoy a band that surely has been special for me. With no intention of being nostalgic, but it's true that some people really have the power to bring you back to 16 YO!

I get it, I've been a fan since Nightfall was their latest and while I like their albums after ANATO, the magic is missing

The new album is an absolute masterpiece. I've been listening to this album for the past few days and the more I listen to it the more I like it. It started with just a couple songs, but now I'm approaching to liking every single one of them. It's legit perfect regarding the evolution of the band's musical direction. It's such a rare sight to see a metal band not turn to crap and self-repeat, instead developing their strengths and fixing their past flaws to create a new amazing work that perfectly fits their atmosphere. God, this is amazing, truly. The guitars, the vocals, the drums, the mixing, the melodies, the drive, the atmosphere, everything is exactly what this band has always been, but now better, perfected. I wish more metal bands achieved this degree of self-awareness and proper, real musical progress.

I'm so happy for you that you get to experience something like that with a band you love! :) I'm seeing them this weekend, I never really got into Blind Guardian. Such long albums, and power metal has never been my strong side. Hoping to be blown away!

the new album is incredibly strong, Potential AOTY even. some of these songs are as heavy as i ever heard Blind Guardian. didnt expect to be reminded of a kreator riff when i played it first.

I think I've listened to this new record a lot more than I have Beyond the Red Mirror or At the Edge of Time. I love how the last track of each record - dare I say since Somewhere Far Beyond - is so epically awesome. Destiny is quickly becoming one of my favorite tracks from The Bards. I cannot wait to sing these songs live!

I’m glad to see people are loving the new album! I loved Beyond the Red Mirror too though and wouldn’t put this new one above it — yet. But the Bards definitely delivered again. No duds on this album.

Been a fan for 20+ years and have to say, the new album for me is good but not great. Considering how long they take in between releases, its disheartening to know they may only put out one more record this decade

Much better in that way than to release a crappy album every 2 years like Amon Amarth.

Their new album is surely a banger. Hansi's voice ages like the finest of wines

I didn't expect to live to see a new album by Blind Giardian I would be excited by, yet it happened! Definitely one of the most pleasant surprises of this year.

Violent Shadows is the best song of the year unless it first being revealed to the public during the online Wacken thing 2 years ago disqualifies it from that. In that case, it's the best song of 2020.

Firstly, there's no point in bluffing it out. ~51 Minutes isn't short by any means, nor does it make it one of their shortest. They've released ten albums (excluding "The God Machine"), whilst five are shorter in playtime than "The God Machine" and five are longer, which makes perfect sense considering "The God Machine" stylistically dwells somewhere between those two eras. You were initially calling it short by stating "especially that 4 of 9 songs were realeased earlier" and not by stating it's one of their shortest albums, which is, as I already pointed out, nonsense anyway. And the moral of this story: Fuck singles, don't spoil your own album listening experience. Good day, sir.

No, I stated that the album is "a bit too short" and then coma, and I pointed out "especially" why, but it was too short for me anyway. And as I said - it wouldn't be any longer if I didn't listen to the songs before. You can't say that "51 minutes isn't short by any means" because it is subjective, just as "it is bit too short". You have some definition of how much time is enough, where is the border? 51 minutes is not short, what about 50 minutes and 30 seconds? Or 50 minutes? Maybe if I wouldn't check the singles before, it may feel even shorter than now, becaue all the trucks are fun, but still they would last only 51 miuntes. And then, if album would be bad, then 51 minutes would be too long to listen to for me. Or "51 minutes isn't long by any means" either? Time is relative just as music reception.

One problem with their new-ish material it was usually too long. The new album is in fact accurately long and its one of its many strenghts.

Destiny (brilliant, all of it) and Damnation (I can't not like Chandrian lyrics). Overall, I like the new album a lot!

It never became a legit top 5 contender for me, either. I'd say their 3rd worst album. Still good though.

Uma das vozes mais irritantes que já ouvi, as guitarras não ajudam também. Era melhor no Demons & Wizards do que nessa tranqueira.
