Buy der beck. That's supposedly what he used. If you want to pronounce the last syllable it would be closer to 'uh' than 'ee'. Also I think some fans pronounce the first syllable as 'bay' and this may be the correct pronunciation in Germany but it's not what he used... similar to how everyone used to call Satchmo 'Louie' but now we've switched to his personal preference.

To me, better than Miles. Btw, Birth of the Cool begins with Bix (No Reason At All in C).

Such a shame he died so young. Could have been a great counterpart to Armstrong.

I join with weejay. (To the non-Brits: Alan Plater was a British playright who wrote a qurky, fun TV series called "The Beiderbecke Tapes". I assume it was too quirky and rooted in Northern British culture to have gone elsewhere, but it was good, and was an an affectionate, tangential tribute to Bix.).http://www.screenonline.org.uk/people/id/473028/index.html for Plater's life.

Would have been amazing to see how Bix influenced Louis Armstrong and vice versa if Bix had lived longer. There's no question that both were of equal merit when it came to innovation. As it is, Louis was more or less unchallenged after Bix died.

A very influential and prodigious cornet player. I read about him in a book on jazz; he was extremely reserved, and could never say no to his friends. His playing would light up any venue he played at.
