It's true that there are multiple artists that should be merged but the admins are too damn lazy to do anything on this website. In this case however, this is a really good trio that shouldn't be merged with just Bill Evans himself.

No jazz artist ever plays just by himself. Bill Evans was band leader of the trio, just as he was band leader of everything else recorded under just his name. The fact that the trio is seen as something different here just lowers his/their work in all of our stats.

Happy 60th to Sunday at the Village Vanguard, which is probably my favorite live album. The audience’s muffled chatter, the drinks clinking. I love it so much. And then there’s the playing. Wowowow a knock out ♥️

I agree, it's annoying bc you don't get that many scrobbles out of listening to jazz (even if you listen to a ton of it, as you should), and on top of that the tags are often split.

Normally I'd agree but in this case I actually don't mind it. The difference between Bill Evans' solo stuff and his trio material, in terms of harmonic developments and phrasing, is actually staggering at times to the point that they often do sound like different bands, which is something you arguably can't say about the Dave Brubeck Quartet, Oscar Peterson Trio, Tony Williams' bands, Zappa & The Mothers of Invention, etc. You also have to keep in mind that the Bill Evans Trio was pretty legendary in the `60s and `70s, to the point that the name stuck in the minds of tons of people and was essentially synonymous with the man himself.

The best Bill Evans trio is with Paul Motian and Scott LaFaro in the late 50s until early 60s, sadly Scott LaFaro was dead earlier :(

Just "Bill Evans" covers the trio as well as the solo work, which is a minor side thing compared to the extensive trio work.
