Bilal Karaman is a Turkish jazz guitarist from Istanbul. He was born in 1981, in Kars, Turkey. One of the most outstanding young artists in Turkey; Bilal earned a bachelors degree in Jazz from Istanbul Bilgi University (2000-2004) and had the chance to study with greats such as Lawrence Butch Morris, Ricky Ford, Donovan Mixon and Aydin Esen. In addition to jazz, he has also studied classical Turkish music. In 2009, he was awarded the first prize in a Jazz Guitar competition held in Istanbul, sponsored by Yamaha. He has released three albums: ''Bahane'' in 2011, ''Patika'' in 2013 & ''Manouche a la Turca'' in 2018. As a guitar tutor, he founded the first virtual guitar academy in Turkey, named gitarakademisi.com. Besides his solo career, he has collaborated with artists such as Marcus Miller, Butch Morris, Ricky Ford, Harvie S, Lars Danielsson, Mike Moreno & Gustav Lundgren. Alongside his musical knowledge and technique, thanks to the interest in different music styles, he has developed a unique style. And he explains his music in one sentence: ''A unique oriental approach to jazz guitar''. He's still actively living & working in Istanbul.
