“JOLENE” sees Beyoncé put a spin on Dolly Parton’s famous country classic, whilst the original expresses a sentiment of desperation towards a side-piece, Beyoncé’s rendition sees the protagonist know her worth and warn the other woman that the bond between Beyoncé and her man is too strong to be broken.

The song was first hinted by Parton in an interview with the Knoxville News Sentinel where she shared her excitement about a possible cover of “Jolene” included in Beyoncé’s album.
