The title track from Folds' 2001 solo debut, Rockin' the Suburbs is a poppy dig at nu metal bands who dominated the radio at the time, such as KoЯn and Limp Bizkit. Folds' inspiration for the song came from a 1998 interview he read in Spin magazine with KoЯn vocalist Jonathan Davis, where he referred to Ben Folds Five as "fucking Cheers music". Folds originally intended to get back at Davis by writing a song in the style of KoЯn, but ended up making a cheery-sounding pop rock piano tune instead.
