it's a well known fact that a funeral doom 5 minutes is actually longer than a typical 5 minutes

The split versions of Mirror Reaper and Clandestine Gate are interesting. They could have easily just split the track up, but they seem to have put effort into making them four complete tracks with new intros/outros, which is really cool. Will definitely give both a listen as 4-track albums

I once went to a show in a small chapel in the middle of a fort soon after they released Mirror Reaper so they played it in full. Suffice to say it was an earth shattering performance. They even had a 50s horror movie playing in the background.

Was so fucking impressed by them yesterday! They toured with WITTR and Incantation and somehow they still completely stole the show for me. The Stygian Bough collab is my favourite funeral doom album in years.

I heartily agree. Even though 'Mirror Reaper' is a behemoth of a song, 'Four Phantoms' contains some of the most beautiful bass lines (particularly on the two "Suffocation" songs) as well as Erik Moggridge's best vocal performance.

Four Phantoms is a titanic album, and it's my favorite doom metal one, for sure! I can't imagine them making another that i'll like quite as much.

Mirror Reaper in it's entirety at Roadburn was one of the most intense and immersive experiences I have ever had.

I have had a mindset of "Studio > Live" for most bands. I go to live shows, I enjoy them, I enjoy the different aspect that they bring to music that I love. Despite this though, I've found that most bands either try and emulate their albums' sounds, or realise that they can't and drop in quality. I'm aware that this isn't every band, but it's just what I have experienced generally. I saw Bell Witch live last night . What can I say? It was perfect. Two men not only nailing the source material on the head, but breathing a whole new life into it (or breathing death? Being Funeral Doom Metal ) Dylan's bass playing is utterly unique, haunting, and heavy. I am floored at the fact that he plays both lead and rhythm simultaneously , without either side losing an inch of quality. As for Jesse's drumming? Powerful and drowning in tension. Each barbaric strike of the kit had the audience paused in awe. I could write a full article on the quality of both their juxtaposed vocal performances.
