This song seems more rock than hip-hop, unlike most of the other songs on the album..

what an introduction to hip hop royalty - <3 even their worst is better than most of what is out there now. Classic!

"Hahaha - guys, the Beastie boys hated this song. It was there attempt to make a satirical song about being a teenager and party - they were trying to make it sound bad and cheesy just to make fun of the the teenage trend. They were kind of sad when the song turned out to be so popular." -- This, plus the record label wanted them to make a "rock" song that would attract more of a white audience than their rap songs would.

Ah, I'm 16 again! It's true you have to fight for your right to party, but it's also true that when you get older you have to fight for your right to peace and quiet and to be left alone!

After the news that Adam had passed away, Coldplay (yes, Coldplay) did a really great cover of this at the Hollywood Bowl. With the crowd doing the "Beas-Tee-Boyz" part. I'm sure it's on youtube. Really nice tribute.
