“Good Girls (Don’t Get Used)” is the lead single from Beach Bunny’s fifth EP "Blame Game", described by songwriter Lili Trifilio as a “sassy song that calls out players by talking down to them as if they were children, showing that poor communication skills and mind games are immature”. The song serves as an introduction to the EP’s more angsty and confident themes compared to Beach Bunny’s preceding Honeymoon album, which was described by Trifilio as a “breakup album” with more sad lyrical themes.

The band teased the single by releasing a racing game on their website called “The Blame Game” (which would later be revealed as the title of the EP). The goal of the game was to collect six items scattered across the map. Once the player beat the game, they were taken to a link to pre-save the song on Spotify. The game featured an 8-bit rendition of the single as its background music, which players could also download once they completed the game.

"As a veteran of engaging with emotionally unavailable people, I wanted to create a sassy song that calls out players by talking down to them as if they were children, showing that poor communication skills and mind games are immature. It shifts the blame to the person that was acting disrespectful, instead of myself. The song also hammers home the point that I know my worth; I’m not afraid to call out players on their stupid behavior and I’m not going to tolerate being thrown around emotionally."
