The narrator of the song uses cardiac arrest as a metaphor for having such strong feelings for someone that it brings a painful sensation in their chest when they kiss or look at them. This also emphasizes that he knows she isn’t good for him—as the song develops, we learn that she doesn’t feel the same way.
Originally released as a single in 2013 from their "Transpose" EP and peaking at #15 for US Alternative Songs, “Cardiac Arrest” appears on American alternative rock band Bad Suns‘ debut album "Language & Perspective".
