Hadn't listened this album in years, so revisiting it somewhat feels fresh almost like the first time I heard it back in 2008. And, without surprise, it's really awesome. Beautiful, haunting, even quite tragic. Quite easily one the best records made by Arjen after all these years, although I still think "The Human Equation" is the best Ayreon album ever.

Renkse is my favourite here too; his style is so different from the rest of the cast. Then goes Anneke and Jorn Lande.

Lande has sung in so many projects... From the ones I've listened to I strongly recommend this album: https://www.last.fm/music/Ark/Burn+the+Sun // Here's a catchy song from it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djjZ1zWq44I // Also, the Rock Opera https://www.last.fm/music/Nikolo+Kotzev/Nostradamus has some similarities with the first Ayreon album.

i agree. Renkse's voice is pretty doomish and depressive, while all male vocals there have clean and power vocals

This album is epic! Besides: Jorn Lande, Hansi Kursch, Simone Simons, Anneke van Giersbergen, Bob Catley... you can't go wrong with all the great singers performing here!

Just listening to 010110001 for the first time. Into The Electric Castle was great, and this one is just as good. Please come to the USA west coast for a concert.

Can an album with Jonas Renske, Anneke and Daniel Gildenlow turn out to be something but great?? :)

Maybe it's because I got into this band by listening to this album. But this album reaches heights that I cannot find on any other album of Ayreon. The songs have such an epic feel to them, except maybe for web of lies. Don't understand why people don't get into this album, it rocks:D Just give it 2 spins and you should be hooked for life! Ayreon rocks!!

As with all his albums, just amazing - incredible dynamics, song structure, vocal performances and a damn good story to boot. [2]

Although it's taken a while, I've really gotten into this album lately. The second disc has the better tracks IMO but anything with Hansi Kürsch in is gonna get my vote!

Web of Lies is terrible and Connect the Dots is mediocre, but every other song of the album is at the very least amazing.

This is an absolute masterpiece. Only slightly behind 'The Human Equation' in my ranking of Ayreon albums but I think that is mainly because 'The Human Equation' was the first Ayreon album I heard. The cast here is simply astonishing though. So many amazing vocalists. The composition is, as ever, hard to believe in terms of its brilliance. Every song is a work of genius.

Jorn, Anneke, Jonas, Englund, Steve Lee... love their voices, especially here.
