"borderline" (stylized in all lower case) is a track off of Ariana Grande's fourth album, Sweetener, with a short but sweet verse by rapper Missy Elliott. The track was teased in her "No Tears Left To Cry" music video, and was hinted again in the " No Tears Left To Cry (BTS - Part 2)”
In an interview with The Fader, Ariana revealed that the track featured rapper Missy Elliott and was produced by Pharrell Williams, who has also produced other tracks off Sweetener. The song marks the first time Elliott and Grande have collaborated together.
On June 17, 2018, in response to a fan's request for info on Twitter, Ariana teased the track with an ice cream emoji.
In a Livestream prior to the release of Sweetener, Ariana revealed that "borderline" was originally Missy's track.
