what they did with neon bible has been done so many times before though. funeral was kind of a breath of fresh air

Yeah I think only Ocean Of Noise and No Cars Go can compare to the worst material of Funeral. Neon Bible was a letdown but I really like it anyway

I'd like to see them diversify as a band by trying new things rather than employ the pompous orchestration of Funeral on every album. I only have so much love for the violin.

"Between the click of the light and the start of the dream" is still my favorite lyric ...

Indexcard wrote:
most of the songs have less orchestration and more electronic kinda stuff in neon bible. and what made funeral so awesome was the big powerful orchestration it had it was like PIANO HARP BIG DRUM VIOLINS GUITARS BIG CHORUS STRONG VOCALS. neon bible just didnt have that punch except in like 2 songs.

TehSpiral wrote:
I can't understand the hate for Neon Bible. :( I love it every bit as much as Funeral!

Indexcard wrote:
amen to that neon bible really sucks compared to funeral.

It's sort of sad to see Neon Bible (the album) over Funeral, but it's also pretty great to see Neon Bible (the track) at second in the top tracks.

Marika Anthony-Shaw = part of the tour band. She's really cool. And talented. And hot. Discuss plz.

optimistic_tour wrote:
man, fuck calling them "generic" as an insult. the fact is, they're a 'general' band in the sense that they're anthemic and a large variety of people can enjoy them on a listen, they aren't beholden to some specific sub-sub-genre of indie-whateverness.. they're just a band making great songs out of the standard set of instruments and rock n roll tropes a thousand other bands fumble with. they don't need to be weirder or more specific to be great.

@ higginst...You are right, this discussion is endless...unless they themselves come up with THE name of (The) Arcade Fire. But It's ashame that they get half as much scrobbles here...When you put both stats together Arcade Fire will be a much more poular band!

why are people even argueing on something so dumb
-
higginst wrote:
here's the thing, and this really should be the final say on the THE issue: Until the band themselves pick one or the other, they can be correctly labelled as Arcade Fire AND as The Arcade Fire. In a way, last.fm having two pages for them is really the most accurate way of doing it, because the band consider both their official name. You just can't argue with the band members themselves. Now, amirite or AM I RIGHT????!!!

Indexcard wrote:
they're not generic. there aren't that many big bands like them out there that use the instruments they use. a lot of indie stuff uses violins and shit but not a lot of it uses violins, piano, harp, cello, drums, guitar, etc etc all at once.

dedparrot wrote:
landfill indie. i want to like them, but they sound sooooooooooooooooooooo incredible generic.

It really is Arcade Fire. There is no The. If there were a The, then there would be a The on all the album covers. Right? In the end though, they still kick the ass.

Misael2006 wrote:
Well...Who cares about the name at all?? But the fight about the name is quite funny. Besides it´s an indicator of how much we like Arcade Fire because the thing is so trivial that the discussion is just explained by the fact we love that music. About the music itself: well...it´s simply great. it´s like rainy music ^^ because It´s cold and dark not in the sense of gothic but in a sense that i cant explain...Arcade Fire Rox!!

@alexrobins91. if we're going to merge them, merge them in to the correct name. they're not the arcade fire, so why would you merge it into that?
