Pulse width is typically the measurement of the duty cycle of a pulse wave. A 50% positive and 50% negative duty cycle of a bipolar wave would be a square wave. Pulsewidth modulation is when you vary the duty cycle width of a waveform (example going from 25 positive 75 negative to 75 positive to 25 negative. It's a pretty cool sounding effect.
