Adding to the multitude of covers of the the popular 1960 Brazilian bossa-nova song, “The Girl From Ipanema” finds its place as the seventh track on Winehouse’s posthumous album, "Lioness: Hidden Treasures".
The cover was recorded in May 2002 when Winehouse visited Miami, Florida to meet producer Salaam Remi. Upon the track’s release announcement, Remi reminisced on the moment he heard Winehouse first sing the song:
The way she re-interpreted this bossa nova classic made me realise that I was dealing with a very special talent. Her approach to the song was so young and fresh, it really inspired the rest of our sessions.
