Biography

Amy Lynn Lee (born December 13, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She plays a key role in the rock band Evanescence as the co-founder, lead vocalist, lead songwriter, and keyboardist. In addition to her work with the band, Lee has been involved in various musical projects. She has contributed to albums like Nightmare Revisited and Muppets: The Green Album. Lee has also composed soundtracks for films like War Story (2014) and Indigo Grey: The Passage (2015) alongside cellist Dave Eggar. Furthermore, she created the song "Speak to Me" specifically for the film Voice from the Stone (2017). Lee has collaborated with several artists including Korn, Seether, Bring Me the Horizon, and Lindsey Stirling. Being trained in classical piano, she possesses a mezzo-soprano vocal range.

In 2008, Lee was honored with the Songwriter Icon Award by the National Music Publishers Association. She received the Best Vocalist award at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards in 2012 and was recognized as the Rock Goddess of the Year at the Loudwire Music Awards. The Moondance International Film Festival awarded her with the Best Film Score for Indigo Grey: The Passage in 2015. In 2017, her song "Speak to Me" earned her the Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Original Song in Independent Film. Lee also serves as the American chairperson for the international epilepsy awareness foundation, Out of the Shadows.
