"it seems you prophesized all of this would end" referring to Layne's death and how all the fans thought Alice in Chains would never continue making music without Layne; "were you burned away when the Sun rose again?" the Sun is one of the old logos of Alice in Chains, so it refers to when they reformed with William DuVall as the new vocalist and how the fans were not happy about this decision

Fantastic song. One of the best on the album. Yes, Layne would've been great on this song, but the band can't help that, he's the one that went got himself killed. Blaming the band for replacing a singer who died of a drug overdose is the definition of an apologist. Like Jack White said, you can't take the effect and make it the cause.

This song has the true soul of AIC, but.... yeah: "I can imagine Layne's voice souring over this track...RIP [3] "

i agree with my friend darkside73 they really don't seem much different.Much like he said with AC/DC the style is still very similar enough that even after starting over both bands continued on with the same sound and although there maybe some differences its not like there were drastic changes because overall the sound they're known for is still there.Don't get me wrong i miss Layne very much but Jerry has done a great job of keeping the spirit and vibe going.

They don't seem much different after Layne is gone..It's like the same when Bon Scott died and AC/DC replaced him with Brian Johnson..They didn't seem much different either..

makes me picture a young woman running really fast in the dark..peering over her shoulder momentarily to see if the danger is going to engulf her.

Alice in Chains is one of the greatest bands ever t walk the face of the earth. Layne Staley had a beautiful voice, such a shame he had to leave us.

This song reminds me of Tool's song, Disposition, somehow. I like it. [2] great harmonies + drums, excellent.
