Maybe my opinion will be unnoticed or something like that, but I'll write it down anyways. Alexandra had a huge impact on my childhood, been listening to her for more than 10 years, so I'm quite familiar with her musical abilities and talent. However, this album did not worth the wait. I'm going to tell why! Back in 2020 she told us that she'll release Rainbows pretty soon, she postponed it to 2022. We got like 4 new songs and an intro and outro, plus the already released singles. The intro (rainbows) was better than most of the new songs not gonna lie. It's my life, cherry lips and kame ha are absolutely boring, basic and bland. Lie is the only new song that was quite good and spectacular. The singles were not bad, but basic, with no message. Good flow and that's all. She has so many albums, yet I don't see any improvements. Lyrically it was a huge let down, but at least the aesthetics were great I guess. I'm so disappointed that we had to wait this much for something so basic.

Plus, "I think I love it" was released in 2019 which was like 3 years ago. She even included that song on the album. It feels so cheap or fake or idk. It just does not feel right. I was so excited after "Bad At Hating You"... It was a great song, clever lyrics, stunning music video, she started to get more cohesive, delicate, but that was just one song. All of the others are targeted radio "hits" and nothing else. I know she is not a huge artist, but I want a more personal album from her, which is about deeper things. Struggles, issues, love problems with deeper lyrics. SOMETHING. I still prefer her over Inna, cause Alexandra actually tried new styles, new music genres and so on. Inna stayed in the dance hit making line, which was more successful, but insanely bland and boring. Never mind, I'll still follow her through her career, but I won't be supportive that much, cause I'm less interested day by day...

Honestly my thoughts aren't that far. As her fifth studio album it doesn't feel like Alexandra has really grown musically. Even before the release of the album, I was scared because of what happened with her Mami, an album I always considered disappointing because it felt rushed, inconsistent, and the lyrics were so random that there wasn't an ongoing theme throughout the listen. I do think that Rainbows feels indeed more worked on, but it still same the same inconsistency problem. It starts out with three synthpop tracks, that work perfectly, but after track 3 the synthpop music pretty much fades away and there are only some light production influences in the remainder of the album. Then you got reggae, reggaeton, house, which just feel out of place. The title of "Rainbows" is quite ironic, because this doesn't feel like a rainbow, but more of a mush of colors thrown together.

And it was a horrible choice to add I Think I Love It and Tikari to the standard edition, these songs are like 2-3 years old and do not go with the 80s theme. Aleasa should've been on the standard tracklist, and 3-4 songs should've been singles. She's signed to Universal, who might I add, are doing a terrible job and promoting her music. They’ve done a great job at promoting her music in Romania but Romania is not a musically commercial country so there’s very little hope for the album to blow up. They need to promote it in different countries, if not the US or UK at least bigger european countries.
