"Out of Love" is a song recorded by Canadian singer and songwriter Alessia Cara. Def Jam Recordings serviced it to contemporary hit radio on January 29, 2019, as the third single from Cara's second studio album "The Pains of Growing" (2018). Richard Nowels Jr. co-wrote it with Cara, and co-produced it with Dean Reid. The track is the 11th song on the album. It was inspired by a friend’s breakup, which Alessia explained in an interview to Associated Press: He was like, ‘Listen, I’m not a songwriter, I’m not good at writing. Could you maybe one day… write a song about somebody falling out of love with you?‘ According to Cara, it was the first song she’s written from someone else’s perspective and it was the easiest one to write for the album.
