A few weeks have passed, and I'm quite certain that this is my favourite Alcest song of all time. It may even be my favourite song of all time. Fuckin' crazy, given that I'm not particularly into their previous two albums. So excited for 'Les Chants de l'Aurore'!

This is the best Alcest song in many, many years, IMHO. I got into them before 'Souvenirs d'un autre monde' via snippets of said album on MySpace, so fell in love with that sound. My preferences for their albums go in sequential order from first full release to 'Spiritual Instinct', with that one ('Spiritual Instinct') being my least favourite. (I'm not particularly into it as it sounds quite basic/straight up.) Anyway, here comes 'L'Envol', and it destroys anything from their previous two albums. It heavily features that 'Souvenirs...' sound that I fell in love with back in 2007! I'm so overjoyed that they've released something I'm obsessed about again! I love the return to longer passages with more atmosphere, introspect and melancholy. As well as delicate nostalgic beauty! Absolutely spectacular song (with an insanely spectacular video, too). This new album is gonna be dope!

My favourite Alcest song in years. I love, love, LOVE how deep it is. Many nods to 'Souvenirs d'un autre monde', by favourite album by the band. I wasn't particularly keen on 'Kodama' and 'Spiritual Instinct', as they sounded a bit too straight up and basic for the band, with more general metal influences. I'm so happy that they have returned to this deep, contemplative sound, and I have really high hopes that the next Alcest album will, like this song, be a fucking masterpiece. <3
