The song centers around intimacy of all kinds, and is likely Adele’s most erotic song to date. “When the lights go out” and Adele is left in the dark, she has numerous “doubts” about the state of her relationship. However, the physical intimacy at play distracts her from this increasing emotional discord.
“I Miss You” is the third track on 25 and fifth collaboration between Adele and Paul Epworth, having previously collaborated on “Rolling in the Deep”, “I’ll Be Waiting”, “He Won’t Go” and the James Bond theme song, “Skyfall.”
