On “gun smoke,” 21 Savage makes his love and necessity for owning and using firearms crystal clear. Savage discussing themes of having a plethora of weapons is very common within his discography, which he addresses in the song’s first verse:
"Savage, why you always rappin' ‘bout guns for? (Straight up)

While delivering raps about guns, Savage also obligatorily reps his home of East Atlanta and references the viral 2018 dance challenge started by Shiggy to Drake’s 2018 song, “In My Feelings.”
