Twinkle is the debut album of girl sub-group, 소녀시대-태티서, and was digitally released on April 29th, 2012, while the physical album dropped on May 2nd, 2012.
Twinkle falls into the funky soul genre with a mid-tempo reminiscent of a 70′s-80′s Stevie Wonder style song. The straight-forward daring feel and lyrics show off the three members’ exceptional vocals. "Baby Steps" has a mid-tempo groove with a strong R&B style. "OMG (Oh My God)" is an electronic-retro pop track with a unique sound, and "처음이었죠 (Love Sick)" is about a shy girl who learns about love through her first crush. "안녕 (Good-bye, Hello)" is a track with a shuffle rhythm about not being able to believe that they just went through a break-up the day before.
Twinkle holds the record for the highest peaking K-pop album, having peaked at #4 on the US iTunes Album Charts, and top 10 on various other countries charts. The album also achieved an all-kill status in South Korea, reaching #1 on MelOn, Bugs, Olleh, Soribada, Mnet, Daum and Naver.
Promotions for Twinkle was launched with a sub-unit debut stage performance on the May 3rd, 2012 broadcast of Mnet's 'M! Countdown'.
