Grasshopper (草蜢) is a Hong Kong Cantopop boy group formed in 1982. The band consists of Edmond So Chi Wai (蘇志威), Calvin Choy Yat Chi (蔡一智), and Remus Choy Yat Kit (蔡一傑). They were well-known for their popular, catchy songs and their agility on stage.
Calvin and Remus are brothers and grew up with neighbor Edmond in a poor neighborhood in Hong Kong. In 1985, the trio auditioned in the Hong Kong New Talent Singing Awards where Anita Mui (梅艷芳), was one of the judges. Due to a black-out during the audition, Anita began to chat with the trio. Soon after, they were invited to perform as back-up dancers/singers for Anita, and soon was discovered by many around the world.
