She topped the Oricon Charts with the release of Summer Beach this week at Number 30. A true Queen!

Damn, I wish I listened a bit more to her music before reading her backstory, since it's impossible to fully separate what I hear/feel from what I know. To me there often is this sad, tragic quality to her vocals, even on the more upbeat tracks.

I honestly feel like starting in late 1985 has gone quickly downhill for her, it was reported that she was hospitalised due to exhaustion and you can see her performing futari no blue train live with a cold. In 84 and 85 she seemed to shine a bit more so probably that was when she actually felt happy but you can kinda tell that in 86 she was struggling to keep up her happy go lucky idol. Sad really..

I decided to go futher into her discography this year, beyond "Cinderella", and wow didn't know she also did city pop. "Summer Beach" slightly reminds me of the ethreal sound that Momoko Kikuchi usually goes for the genre.... also found out that Mariya Takeuchi wrote many of her songs, including "Little Princess". Nice. "Fairy" is an amazing, and beautiful album.

Amen to this. She had some of the better compositions out there and her voice was really underrated

v her death had nothing to do with fame. It was all about lovesickness. Or did I misunderstood something?

She was beautiful and had a wonderful voice. So tragic, what fame does to some....
