のなかに (Hikari no naka ni, "In the light") is a band based in Tokyo, Japan, centered around Kahoru Yamashita. The band is signed to A-Sketch Label.

Formed on April 27, 2017, "Hikari no naka ni" originated in the Light Music Club of their high school. The founding members were Kahoru Yamashita (vocals, guitar, lyrics, composition), Hiyori Takeuchi (bass, backing vocals), and Joe (drums). All three members were born in 2001 and were in their first year of high school.

Initially known as "Otogibanashi" (meaning "Fairy tale") with the catchphrase "Like a fairy tale, a legend that is passed down from generation to generation," they later changed their name to "Hikari no Naka ni" in January 2018 upon discovering another band with the same name.

The band achieved recognition by winning the TATATA!! competition organized by Ookayama PEAK-1. They also experienced success with their first self-produced event, "Shinjuku Benifu Kara Ai wo Komete," and emerged victorious in the ROJACK competition in 2018.

While still in high school, "Hikari no naka ni" released the mini-album "Hokago Daisensou" on June 26, 2019. After graduating, they followed up with their debut mini-album "Tokyo Saizensen" on April 22. The lyrics of their songs, written as a space for mutual support rather than merely conveying personal feelings, resonated particularly well with teenagers.

On November 1, 2020, it was announced via the band's official Twitter account that Hiyori Takeuchi (bass) and Joe (drums) expressed their desire to explore endeavors beyond music. Following discussions among all members, their departure was announced. Kahoru Yamashita (vocals, guitar) expressed her commitment to carry on as "Hikari no naka ni," stating, "I will continue to write songs and stand before you, so that Hikari no naka ni can exist for as long as possible, even if it's just for a single day or a single second." The band enlisted the support of Mizuki Masuda (miida), Makoto Abe, and Kenji Okuyama as additional members.

On June 30, 2021, it was announced on the band's official Twitter account that "Hikari no naka ni" would be going on an indefinite hiatus.

However, on May 4, 2023, "Hikari no naka ni" resumed activities with a commemorative live performance titled "Futatabi" at Shimokitazawa LIVE HAUS.
