After a rousing inaugural show of the First Saturday Series on June 4 (featuring The Reducers, Low-Beam, Fatal Film and The Thick Thieves and some 300 revelers rocking into the night), New London Music Fest is proud to announce the line-up for round two.

Headlining the event will be a true Connecticut icon, Mark Mulcahy. Having graced stages and airwaves since the late 80s when he fronted the immensely popular Miracle Legion, Mr. Mulcahy is known for his folk infused indie rock, quirky and catchy songwriting and a voice from the heavens (Thom Yorke of Radiohead sites him as an influence). He has released a series of well-received solo records on the Mezzotint label in the past several years and his band Polaris (featuring members of Small Factory and Frank Black's touring band) were the unlikely theme-stars of the Nickelodeon show The Adventures of Pete & Pete. This is Mulcahy's first time back to New London in more than five years.

The Mountain Movers are an eclectic crew from New Haven that have just recently released their debut on Safety Meeting Records entitled 'We Walked in Hell and There is Life After Death'. Fronted by Dan Greene (also known for his work with Butterflies of Love), the songs tap into his divinity school training and William Blake prophecies. Theirs is a gentle easy flowing rock featuring horns and piano flourishes. There are moments of hope and celebration, but ultimately the devil, who here stands for everything from distraction to excess, always wins.

Roadside Attractions are a relatively new combo that has graced New London stages of late with their swing and jazz inflected folk. Fronted with elegance by singer/songwriter Daphne Glover, the band also features virtuoso guitarist Rob Jensen (of Incognito Sofa Love), Craig Edwards (known for his fiddle and banjo work extraordinaire and as a leading force behind Mystic Seaport's Sea Music Fest), Sebatian Cappotelli and Phil Agins (both of the Royale Brothers). Expect to be enchanted with their ease and flow.

Ken Cormier is another Connecticut icon who has been playing shows in the region for years. His a mad and whimisical talent that will draw listeners in with its complexity and dexterity. Mr. Cormier often graces the stage alone with only a guitar and boom box as support. The ensuing show is difficult to describe and harder to forget.

The acoustic duo The Cavities kick proceedings off. The band has been kicking it New London style for years and is proud to announce the release of their new CD Bad Idea. This show is actually the first of two on July 7th to celebrate the release of the recording (they'll hit the stage after the Hygienic show at the Bank Street Cafe for more rabble rousing).
