Aside from the popular acts (all of which were great) I was impressed by the energy and intensity of 'King of Conspiracy'. I previously had no idea who they were but I found their set to be really interesting.

oh god it was a wonderful crowd, it's the most beautiful festivalsite i've ever seen and the bands were awesome! be glad - that's not common in other countries

Great music + flaccid atmosphere = mediocre festival. Sorry but Parisians really have no clue about how to have a good time! you should pop over the channel to London some time to see how it's done! you trendy types will feel right at home in shoreditch! Hehehe :D

@fischli_deluxe not sure what festivals you've been to in Switzerland because the ones I've been to have always been top notch in their organisation! And agreed about here being way too many ads everywhere... the xbox stand was belting out music so loud it was really distracting from Jónsi's accoustic set. Rumour has it they're planning on adding a fourth stage and making the festival even bigger! If they sort out the problems they'll be onto a winner.

the festival was awesome - the organisation the best i've ever seen!! don't believe me? come to austria/germany/switzerland because the festivals over here are completely different! you're lucky people there in the north!

Living in Paris at the moment, i enjoyed going there for a day and seeing good concerts… but the whole experience… phew… the problem is it’s completely overcrowded (wonder how much time I lost queuing for the toilets…), there’s way too much advertisement (what the fuck nivea was doing there???), no planning whatsoever from the festival staff or the public transport (what if it rains??? what if we have to close the metro??? just basic planning) and yet so much auto-congratulation! Since they want to emulate British festivals, maybe they should get a eurostar ticket and go and see for themselves? I doubt they cancel concerts after a 10min heavy shower at Glastonbury… if I was a Parisian, next year I would just tell them where to go and catch a train to any other festival (yeah sometimes you forget the great – and fast - connections Paris has with the “rest” of the world…)

We were queuing on the left stairs at the closest metro about 20 mins after Arcade Fire finished when people started coming back up and some girl said that all trains that night had been cancelled due to an accident. We hung around for about 15 mins and saw people going down the stairs again and 2 metros were there to take people. Got on no problem. I suspect that there was a mistranslation and what happened was they weren't letting people into the station until there were trains there to take people to stop them being pushed onto the tracks. I've checked all the news and can't find any mention of an accident or anything else. Does anyone know for sure?

FAT FREDDY'S DROOOOOOOP: best concert of the whole festival. Wow, Arcade Fire really dissed the French nation and the French nation had nothing to say (regarding the Haiti stuff). Anyways, I have to mention this: there were so many beauties at this festival, French and British, but French mostly :). Great festival.

Yeah, actually i think the festival's problems could be solved if they put it completely outside the city, perhaps in the east somewhere; you would have a wider range of people going and there would be more space so less overcrowding and overselling of the tickets. (: Your english is very good, no worries!

Hi Sarah, yeah it took us about two hours too, as they closed all the metro stations on line 10, we heard someone had been pushed onto the tracks, so we walked into Paris only to find on line 9 they only had one train every 7 minutes (?). Amazingly there were some miserable parisians refusing to move into the carriages to allow others onto the train, but we managed to get the last one...also that has to be the most unbearably pretentious festival i've seen, designed for rich white parisians to strut their stuff and proclaim "look we've been to a real festival"! so no i won't be going back either...

EchotheSun, I totally agree with you. I've never seen anything like this in my life ... Arcade Fire was well worth it, but they won't ever see me again at Rock En Seine ... We managed to get home, but it took us two hours to get in Paris.

Arcade Fire auraient dû jouer tout ça http://rockcover.over-blog.com/article-exclusif-la-set-list-d-arcade-fire-56160789.html. Mais le rappel sous la pluie, épique...

Surely it's little more than common sense to design a roof that is able to protect the electrical equipment on stage from a summer shower? the whole festival was marred by incompetence, dismal toilet facilities + overselling tickets. still beirut and arcade fire were excellent and worth seeing, despite the short set.

La loose pour Arcade Fire. Je ne sais pas combien de temps ils auraient du jouer, mais à peine une heure c'est léger quand même.

Especially seeing as the rain stopped the minute they left the stage for good...
