Description
Budvar Cheltenham Jazz Festival has become an unmissable date in the jazz calendar due to its unique blend of British stars, one-off collaborations and the freshest new sounds. Up-and-coming young musicians sit alongside some of the jazz scene’s most influential and respected performers, and with more opportunities for dancing, wining and dining than ever before, the festival is a whistle-stop tour of the world’s finest jazz set to a stunning regency backdrop.
Not to be missed:
Nigel Kennedy and his Polish Jazz Quintet…Madeleine Peyroux at her jazz club best…Legendary South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela…the young guns of London’s Portico Quartet…Radio 2’s ‘Friday Night is Music Night’…the BBC Big Band with Dave Liebman…the star drummer Jack DeJohnette…the international dancing grooves of Alex Wilson’s Salsa Orchestra…YouTube sensation Beardyman…and the unique fusion of rockabilly, blues and jazz from Imelda May.
And of course, some real heavyweights of international jazz, including Nikki Yeoh, John Surman, Dave Douglas, Don Byron, James Allsop, Robert Mitchell, Tom Arthurs, Ingrid Laubrock, Chris Bowden, Lizzy Parks, Lea Delaria, Todd Gordon, The Homemade Orchestra with Michael Rosen, and The Ruach Choir with Mica Paris.
