Description
Northumbrian songsmith Richard Dawson invites you to join him as he livestreams a special solo set that showcases his time-traveling, shape-shifting songcraft.
Richard Dawson was due to perform at the Barbican in March 2020, but as a global pandemic swallowed live music whole, the title of his latest album, 2020, began to feel oddly prescient. The album was in fact released in 2019, prior to the outbreak, but its underlying themes of anxiety, the nation’s collective psychic crisis and a gradual slide into dystopia are pertinent. Despite this, the record has always felt warm, affirming and a call for us all to unite.
Dawson’s curated show Delight is Right – a gathering of friends, favourites and fellow travellers – is due to be rescheduled for 2021, with more details to be announced soon. This live streamed set will see a solo Richard Dawson perform material taken from 2020 alongside a selection of his older songs. Expect to hear a mix of folk, punk and lively stories.
