Description
A year on from supporting the legendary Cat Power on the Zoo Twilights stage, Julia Jacklin returns triumphant as a headliner this season. In the tender and tough odes to heartbreak and infatuation from her heralded second album Crushing, the Blue Mountains-born artist zooms in on the physicality of love and life, chronicling the sensations of relentless touring, losing touch with people, being touched by people, and reaching out for connections. An intense and confident artist, Julia has a magnetic power to shift audiences with her mesmerising vocal performance and honest instrumentation. Settle in for an intimate evening with this stunningly generous artist.
“An authentic, soul-baring performance” – The Independent
Named one of 2019’s best records, Titanic Rising cemented Weyes Blood (aka LA-based artist Natalie Mering) as a force of nature, a self-described “Joan of Arc solo musician” and a narrator of our times. The mystical and melodic record captures hopes and fears about survival and connection, technology and environmental terror. Paired with Jacklin’s sensitive introspection, it will make for a vivid picture of what it means to exist painted by two unparalleled artists.
DJ Milo Eastwood will also be playing from 5.30pm when gates open until Weyes Blood takes the stage.
All proceeds help Zoos Victoria save the critically endangered Mountain Pygmy-possum from extinction.
Please be advised that this concert may include adult language.
