Description

Lorelle Meets the Obsolete | 26 de Janeiro | 10€ pré-venda, 12€ no dia | Sabotage Club

Lorelle Meets the Obsolete are Lorelle (real name Lorena Quintanilla) and The Obsolete (real name Alberto González). They are originally from Guadalajara but, after a stint in Mexico City, are now based in Ensenada, Baja California. NME has described them as a “hot pot of shoegaze and Krautrock bubbled through a psych filter” though Henry Rollins, who has been a large proponent of the band states “the band hasn’t released a record that wasn’t a genre defying gem that borders on sorcery.”
Their fourth album Balance was released on 2016 by the iconic UK imprint Sonic Cathedral as well as Chicago indie Captcha Records. It sounds as an introspective affair of complex synthetic and analogue fusion that led them to well-received tours of the UK, Europe and Mexico including performances at landmark festivals such as Liverpool Psych Fest, NRMAL (Mexico City) and a live session at Marc Riley’s BBC Radio 6 program. LMTO’s live shows are intense, with the incendiary rhythmic force comprised of members from New Candys, Mamuthones and Camedor plus Lorena’s incredible guitar playing at the fore.
On January 2019 the duo returns with their striking new endeavor De Facto, which is released via Sonic Cathedral. Almost fully written in their native Spanish the album, recorded by the band at El Derrumbe in Ensenada and mixed by long-time collaborator Cooper Crain (CAVE, Bitchin Bajas) at JAMDEK in Chicago, is a real step forward as it’s a strong depiction of Lorena and Alberto backed by their live band for the first time.
