Description

Iconic isn’t a word we use lightly, but Iggy Pop‘s outstanding and enduring career deserves to be called nothing less.

Taking over Melbourne’s Festival Hall on his 72nd birthday, Iggy Pop is still as wild and reckless as he was in the ’70s. From fronting The Stooges to building his own solo career, it seems five decades on Iggy’s heyday is still happening.

Onstage, he’s still super-charged, with an energy and showmanship that can only be owned by a true rockstar. Iggy is truly the godfather of punk, there is no other artist that can even get close to his mantle, and we can promise that once he takes the stage there will still be wild antics and anarchy a-plenty.

From the garage-rock of The Stooges self-titled debut (celebrating its 50th birthday next year) with its enduring single I Wanna Be Your Dog, all the way to 2016’s Post Pop Depression – his 17th solo album and rumoured to possibly be his last – Iggy has covered a plethora of styles and sounds throughout his career. From punk to garage, to jazz, blues, and so much more, his list of collaborators is possibly the only thing greater than the musical landscape he has covered.

Iggy Pop is truly proof that growing up definitely doesn’t mean you need to tone it down.
