Following their remarkable intimate shows in Vicar Street last month, The National have announced their return to Ireland with two very special shows in Donnybrook Stadium on Friday 15th & Saturday 16th June 2018. A full line-up of special guests for each day will be revealed over the coming weeks.
This year The National finally topped the Irish album charts after a remarkable rise which had seen them gain a No.3 album (High Violet, 2010), a No.2 (Trouble Will Fine Me, 2013) and now a No.1 with their acclaimed seventh studio LP Sleep Well Beast. Further afield, The National also topped the album chart in the U.K and Canada for the first time, a No.2 in the USA (after a nail biting chart recount as they were backstage at Vicar St) and Top 4 in Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden and Finland. Produced by The National’s own Aaron Dessner with co-production by co-members Bryce Dessner and Matt Berninger, Sleep Well Beast was mixed by Peter Katis and recorded at Long Pond, Aaron Dessner’s Hudson Valley, New York studio, with additional sessions in Berlin, Paris and Los Angeles.
