Description

A Rip-roaring, sweat-inducing Brass band workout arrives in London!
In a world that is well-associated with Brass bands, YBB truly are a breed apart. From live improvised hip hop and funk to wildly passionate punk-inspired compositions, the ten-member ensemble, born in Madison, Wisconsin, now hails from all over the US and as further afield as Switzerland.

YBB’s debut album Unlearn was released independently in 2000, featuring collaborations with Talib Kweli (the underground smash “Ya’ll Stay Up”), Mike Ladd, DJ Skooly, and Frank Zappa vocalist Ike Willis. Their acclaimed follow-up, 2003’s center:level:roar (which also spawned their now-standard brass band anthem ‘Brooklyn’) saw the band globetrotting to sold out audiences including leading festivals such as: Roskilde, Glastonbury, Lowlands, Pukkelpop, SXSW.

The band released two more albums on their own Layered Music imprint: Live. Places in 2005 and Is That a Riot? two years later, both of which accelerated their notoriety as the world’s most exciting live brass band. Landing on UK label Tru-thoughts in 2014, the band released the Pax Volumi LP to critical acclaim and triggering a raft of collaborations with their roster of artists.

Four albums in and they still don’t stop! Having worked with the names that the group have, its clear that Youngblood Brass Band are much more than just a Brass band and an even bigger deal live.

If you missed their rip-roaring, sweat-inducing, multiple-encore performance at London’s The Scala in 2014 you will most certainly not want to miss this one!
