SWANSEA CONSTELLATION SHOW #061
———————————————————-

UT CONNEWITZ and SWANSEA CONSTELLATION present

ALTAR OF PLAGUES
(Cork, Ireland – Profound Lore Records (USA / CAN) / Candlelight Records (EU))

Formed in 2006, Ireland's Altar of Plagues have quickly gone on to establish themselves as the new kings of dark music. They allow themselves no stylistic boundaries, but are never anything but bleak. While they clearly arise from black metal sonically, they are as likely to draw on Björk, or on Arvo P‰rt as they are Emperor. More recently, they have begun incorporating elements from electronic music, grindcore and even Converge's unique brand of fury to carve a niche that belongs to Altar of Plagues alone. This individual approach quickly saw them snapped up by Canadian label Profound Lore, where they released their debut album 'White Tomb' in 2009, which featured in Decibel Magazine's Best Of 2009 list. An appearance at the prestigious Roadburn Festival in 2010 ñ a sign of their ability to reach beyond the traditional black metal audience ñ and signing to Candlelight Records for the UK and EU. 2011 saw them release their second full-length masterpiece in the shape of 'Mammal', an album which Terrorizer Magazine ranked amongst the ten best records of the year. That year also saw them tour extensively across Europe, including a performance to a packed room at Damnation Festival, where evidence that their ferocious, energetic live sets were finding an audience. Now, in 2013, with the release of their third, greatest work 'Teethed Glory And Injury', the band have cemented themselves as one of the essential heavy bands of their time.

MALTHUSIAN
(Dublin, Ireland – Invictus Productions)

Cavernous murk. Echoing poison. Claustrophobic hallucinations.

They are an incredible Irish death metal act who have built an international reputation from a demo alone (released on Invictus Productions). In February, following a tour with Primordial as well as recent shows with Behemoth, they will release a new EP so this support slot will be very well timed.

CHAMBER
(Leipzig, Germany – SM-Musik / Rinderherz Records / W.I.F.A.G.E.N.A. Records)

Rose from the ashes of an unnamed project with Muz, Rose and Hatzel which ran from 2007 'til 2008, in early 2009 Muz and Hatzel decided, under the impression of a new, non-ideological wave of fresh, open minded but though brutal Black-Metal-bands, to start a new project. They recently started to write songs and in April Rose joined them to complete the instrumental section of the new band. Deeply rooted in the d.i.y.-scene the target was to combine the spirit of the d.i.y.-ethics and a new Metal-related sound. After a few rehearsals it became obvious that the music would be a mixture of cold but yet melodic Black-Metal-riffs, endless and brutal slow motion parts and the drive of Crustcore.
