JAWS

Following the release of their remarkable debut album Be Slowly, Birmingham quartet JAWS announce their biggest hometown headline show to date at The Institute on Sat 7th March 2015.

The past year and a half has seen this young four-piece churn out a steady and impressive output of hook-laden and immersive hazy garage pop, from singles ‘Donut’ and ‘Surround You’ to ‘Friend Like You’, ‘Stay In’ and ‘Gold, all now staunch live favourites. It has seen them record a live session for Huw Stephens at Radio 1, guest on the Phil Taggart & Alice Levine show and play a succession of headline shows around the UK culminating in a triumphant sold out headline homecoming show at Birmingham’s The Institute, as well as having their songs appear on the unlikely cross-section from Made In Chelsea to Match Of The Day, with ‘Stay In’ featuring on Rocksmith 2014 (PS3 / XBOX360).

JAWS have a rapidly increasing nationwide fan base, having had a fantastic run of performances across the UK summer festivals, including Dot to Dot, Bestival, Beacons, Reading & Leeds, plus support slots with Spector, The Enemy and The Twang, as well as their own sell out headline shows.

Happyness

Following in the footsteps of fellow slacker-rock bands such as Yuck and Mazes, Happyness debut album, Weird Little Birthday, has been labelled a ‘low key joy’. The South London trio specialize in lush-yet-breezy indie rock combined with witty and wry lyrics, elements that have seen them draw comparisons to the likes of Yo La Tengo, Pavement and Sparklehorse.

Spring King

Receiving comparisons to the Black Lips and Wavves, Manchester five-piece Spring King are an energetic garage pop band led by Tarek Musa. Their debut EP Demons received 8/10 from NME who called them ‘promising… full of rancid punk and rickety garage’.

Cold Ocean Lies

Birmingham four piece Cold Ocean Lies are influenced by Smashing Pumpkins, Ride and Oasis and are making a splash in their hometown, selling out all of their last headline shows. Their sound harks back to 90s grunge rock combined with classic British influences, culminating in an exciting live show which should not be missed.
