Description

Be Prepared for...

Loscil- is Vancouver's Scott Morgan, who has been making albums of beautiful ambient electronica for labels including Kranky for over a decade. The gentle ebb and flow of the music is permeated with a kind of autumnal sadness, and sometimes a sense of foreboding. This is the last date of his European tour on which he will be collaborating with pianist Jason Zumpano. The set for this show will be different to the Cafe Oto show, and will feature electric piano.

"Loscil practices the art of the aural womb. This is music without sharp edges. The synth textures are warm, deep and viscous as amniotic fluid." pitchfork

"Massive abstract shapes serenely, quietly cut across rippling rhythmic patterns, distant fog horn like sonorities ricocheting across the bay with the noirish, North Western elegance of a Badalamenti theme for Twin Peaks." boomkat.com

The House in the Woods (aka PYE Corner Audio)- the first live outing for The Head Technician's new guise. Less beat oriented than PCA, his superb Bucolica album is like a series of barely heard ghost stories transmitted from the other side.

"Doomy synth shapes, ritual flutes and signature throbs loom out of dense ferric fog in nine parts. Really good stuff, recommended to followers of Stephan Mathieu, Ghost Box, Leyland Kirby." boomkat.com

WANDA GROUP- across a series of tapes and 12"s for labels like Opal Tapes and Notown Louis Johnstone's decayed soundscapes are as moving as they are challenging.

"His music possesses a striking emotional power considering its low-key, sparse nature, all slow-shifting curtains of tape crackle, instrument jack buzz, feedback and hazy, almost-not-there-at-all melodies." The Quietus
