vietnam has long been known as a barren land for famed international artists: most of them, local favorites, the hottest stars out there and any in between, are just nowhere to be found. it doesn’t take a genius to see the reasons why, as well as a pointless thing to begin with. however, all the same time, the scene has witnessed a fast growing trend of foreign, touring artists to the country, with massive thanks to extra enthusiastic local promoters. yet in the extreme metal scene, things aren’t positive as vietnam is non existent in almost every touring network in the region of southeast asia.

now fueled by jagermeister, for the very first time, vietnam’s audiences can enjoy the grindcore finese from finland, rotten sound as they land vietnam before heading to grind the stage of obscene extreme fest asia, one of the 4 overseas installments of the czech-born metal fest held dear by fans of extreme metal. 2 vietnamese acts wuu & brutore will join with the finest regional extremers into the grinding machine at the festival, held in jakarta on april 6 & 7.

the festival is part of the plan as the finnish are celebrating their 20th anniversary of grindcore and chaos during the whole year of 2013. this crushing party begins with the release of the “species at war” ep in january. afterwards the wrecking will continue with many tours and festival performances all around the globe.

2013 promises to become the most intense year in the two decades of rotten sound‘s existence: “our plans are huge and we are aware that some events may not happen, but we are working very hard to bring our music to the ears of as many people as possible”, states frontman keijo niinimaa. “we will visit some new places, while continuing to bomb those we have been playing in since the very beginning of the band. we are also determined to arrange one hell of a party before the end of 2013 to celebrate our 20 years of existence.” to the possibly rare breed of extreme metal fans in vietnam, this special treat boasts to attract local and foreign die-hards alike.
