Description

Love Police feel rad to announce the first ever tour for one of the UKs most exciting new talents, YUCK. With special guests EMA and STEP-PANTHER.
Inspired by the likes of Sonic Youth, the Cure, Red House Painters, and the Jesus And Mary Chain, these north London newbies have made a deeply melodic, and casually thrilling coming-of-age album with their debut self titled release. And now, you can hear them smash it out live as they hit the sideshow stages in Sydney and Melbourne while on the groovy Laneway Festival circuit. Joining them will be first time visitors from the USA, EMA, and Sydney's STEP-PANTHER.

YUCK is London based quartet-sometimes-quintet led by songwriter Daniel Blumberg. Though he's only 20 years old, Blumberg is already an indie rock veteran whose first band Cajun Dance Party was signed to XL Records when he was just 15. After that band fell apart, Blumberg (guitar/vocals) and his bandmate Max Bloom (guitar) moved on to form YUCK, along with Bassist Mariko Doi, drummer Jonny Rogoff and Daniels younger sister Ilana - who more than occasionally joins them on backing vocals. They exploded onto the scene in 2010 with Rubber", a 7 minute distorted guitar fuzz anthem, than closes out their self-titled debut album with a bang. Blumberg and his pals have a knack for penning memorable hooks and gorgeous harmonies, from noisy rockers like "Get Away" and "Georgia" to the more wistful, gentle ballads such as "Shook Down" and "Suicide Policeman. and they are something to behold on a live stage.

Supporting YUCK is one of the years most intriguing artists, Erika M. Anderson a.k.a EMA. Andersons legacy as one half of the genre-defying Gowns has cemented her profile as a prolific guitarist and uncompromising performer. Joined by her band, multi-instrumentalist Leif Shackelford (violin, synthesizers), guitarist Nicky Mao and drummer Nicole Anderson, EMA is set to present to Australian audiences for the first time, tracks from her fearless debut album Past Life Martyred Saints. These dates are a chance to see first hand why her live show, with its raw emotion and powerful delivery, has been receiving international accolades.

Irrepressible Sydney trio STEP-PANTHER round out the line-up and will open both shows, performing songs from their debut album and showing us why they have made quite a name for themselves as a spirited shred-rock'n'garage-pop force.
