Description

FLEET FOXES

Tickets onsale 9am, Tuesday 11 October!

' …the concert’s tone was euphoric. As the voices and instruments meshed and the crescendos surged, Eden was within reach.' The New York Times

Combining baroque-pop with classic rock and British folk, the harmony-rich sound of Seattle’s FLEET FOXES will fill the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall this January in what will surely be an early contender for gig of the year.

Often compared to seminal '60s artists Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Zombies and the Beach Boys, their sound and unique song craft set them apart. With many interludes for voices alone, their songs are wilful, changeable, and rarely content with verse-chorus-bridge structures; they can be mini-suites and quasi-psychedelic excursions.

Fleet Foxes are Robin Pecknold (vocals, guitar), Skyler Skjelset (guitar), Christian Wargo (bass, guitar, vocals), Casey Wescott (keyboards, vocals), Morgan Henderson (multiple instruments) and J. Tillman (drums, vocals).

The band released their debut full-length self-titled album in 2008. It was given 4 stars by Rolling Stone, and compared to the likes of The Beach Boys, Animal Collective, and Crosby, Stills & Nash. In June the same year, they received 9 out of 10 in a review by Pitchfork for their self-titled LP, and in December, the Sun Giant EP and their self titled LP together shared the title of Pitchfork’s #1 album(s) of 2008.

'An overwhelmingly gorgeous experience' The Independent on Sunday (on Helplessness Blues)

The band’s second full-length album, Helplessness Blues (Sub Pop/Inertia) was released in 2011 to overwhelming critical acclaim and propelled them to No. 6 in the Australian national charts (No. 2 in the UK and No. 4 in the US) confirming their status as a bona fide crossover success story.

For a night of sheer musical beauty, don’t miss Fleet Foxes’ Sydney Opera House debut this summer.
