Since 1998 US guitarist Ben Chasny's Six Organs of Admittance have released over a dozen albums, ranging from spooked Takoma-school fingerpicking through hazy, orchestrated folk to raging, apocalyptic psychedelic rock. For critically acclaimed new LP Asleep on the Floodplain (Drag City), Chasny has returned to the solo textures of his early LPs - his drone-drenched guitar work is arrestingly intimate yet cosmically expansive, connecting early American pioneers like John Fahey, Peter Walker and Robbie Basho to the new generation of players such as Jack Rose and James Blackshaw, as well as referencing Indian Raga and contemporary western minimalism.
This very rare London solo show, organised collaboratively by EFDSS and Miles of Smiles, is not to be missed.
