Description
hush at the Royal Albert Hall are proud to present Peggy Sue, Anna Calvi and The Rural Alberta Advantage in the Hall's intimate Elgar Room.
Brighton-based band Peggy Sue will top the bill. Having toured extensively across the UK supporting Kate Nash, Mumford & Sons and The Macabees, the three piece will make their headline début when they take to the hush stage. The band, who has a strong fan base and over 1.5 million MySpace plays, will release their first album titled Fossils and Other Phantoms next month.
Anna Calvi will perform a unique blend of dark atmospheric romantic pop, flanked by Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons with whom she recorded in the studio, Mercury-Award-Nominated Dave Okumu of The Invisible with whom she recorded 'No More Words', Lightspeed Champion who in NME tipped Anna for success in 2010, and Alex Turner who invited the band to support Arctic Monkeys for the Teenage Cancer Trust Royal at Albert Hall and Shepherds Bush Empire shows in March 2010. Anna is currently writing songs for the album in a dark underground basement using her trademark Telecaster guitar, vintage harmonium, and layers of choral like vocals and violins.
Opening the night will be The Rural Alberta Advantage hailing from Canada. The Toronto-based trio, led by born-and-bred Albertan Nils Edenloff, have created an affecting sound that is full of nostalgia and heartbreaks, marrying salt of the earth accoustic rock to energetic rhythms and grand orchestral arrangements. Their debut album 'Hometowns' was released last year through respected indie label Saddle Creek and received rave reviews across the States.
