My point is that everyone gives the Shakes credit and the majority of that fanbase has never heard Heartless Bastards. If we're keeping it a stack, Heartless Bastards is the better band. However, Alabama Shakes has enjoyed more of a spotlight. Granted, Alabama Shakes has better singles than Heartless, has better production than Heartless, and has enjoyed having their song in an Apple commercial. I don't hate them all, so don't misconstrue what I'm saying. This is more of a dig against the people who think Alabama Shakes is the be-all, end-all of that whole bluesy, southern indie rock sound and less of a diss against Alabama Shakes.

Didn't see this till now. Without disagreeing or agreeing with what you wrote, because I'm not into "who gets more credit" (in Europe that's a different story, and there's hardly any logic in those things anyway), I still don't see the point in mentioning another band here (a quite good one in my subjective opinion), even less to imply they don't deserve so much credit/attention when by doing so you are giving them that precisely.

"Her voice is honey to my ears. A female voice of that power, singing the rock, is so rare! Love her. Love them."(2).

That voice is not distinctly feminine. But it's one of a kind. Beautifully enigmatic.

In the great Dictionary of Rock'n'Roll, if you looked up "sitting in the pocket" under Rhythm, you would find Dave Colvin on drums and Jesse Ebaugh on bass. Textbook example: Only For You.

I LOVED the first 2 albums, but was pretty disappointed with "The Mountain".. They're back on fucking form! New album is brilliant!

I got to see these guys do an acoustic set with 30 people sitting cross-legged in the basement of a record store a couple weeks ago. Also, the new record, holy shit.

If you haven't seen Heartless Bastards live then you are missing out. I saw someone post this on youtube and I'll paraphrase since it was so true. I walked by a woman that smelled better than anything I had smelled before and I've been searching for that scent ever since. I feel the same way about the Heartless Bastards. It's an experience you won't forget.

The new album comes out February 14th. The new stuff they played at the show I went to was all good, but it was acoustic. I'm excited to hear how different it sounds on the album.

Son of a gun I've heard rumblings from their twitter, etc about a new album... but their website is awful! Can't find tour info or anything about a new album. Would love new material, and an opportunity to see Erika's vocals live please and thanks.
